Senescence, a novel by Eric Troyer, coming 2008

Dr. Brian Goodman grew up in the small town where he now practices medicine. His life is quite routine until he receives a call that one of his patients has died. While Goodman has lost several patients in the past, this is the first one to die within a day of seeing him in the office. The popular and well-respected physician is able to convince himself that the untimely nature of the death was merely a coincidence until it happens again, and again.

Now certain that someone is killing his patients, Goodman demands an autopsy on an elderly patient who, by all rights, should have died years ago. The resistance he encounters from the medical examiner pales in comparison to the reaction of the local police and community at large when they find out about the deaths. Once it is discovered that visiting his office may be hazardous to one’s health, Goodman’s thriving practice rapidly declines.

As he is a suspect, Goodman is forced to investigate the murders himself. When the resourceful doctor gets close to discovering the truth, the killer makes a bold move in an effort to keep their identity concealed forever. Goodman’s longtime friends soon become enemies and help comes from the most unexpected places in this thrill-a-minute story of jealousy and redemption.
